Editorial policy and corrections

Aperture Authority publishes research-based photography guides, gear comparisons, and location rules. Joel Kelly is responsible for the final published work and for correcting it when the facts change.

How we source claims

Location rules prioritize primary and official sources such as park agencies, city film offices, aviation authorities, statutes, and government guidance. Each page links the sources used so readers can check them directly. Gear comparisons use manufacturer specifications, available owner feedback, and established expert publications. Our full method is explained on how we research and rate.

Dates and material updates

An article’s updated date changes only when its advice, products, sources, or factual claims materially change. Rules pages show a last-verified date because permit and access requirements can change without much notice. Cosmetic edits do not reset those dates.

Corrections

If a source has changed, a product is discontinued, or we got something wrong, email hello@apertureauthority.com. Include the page and the source that supports the correction. We review the evidence, update the page when warranted, and move the modified or verified date.

Affiliate links and samples

Retailer commissions do not change a product’s score, ranking, strengths, or weaknesses. Review samples and paid placements are disclosed on the page where they appear. See the affiliate disclosure for how the site earns money.

Questions that are not corrections can go through the contact page.
