Cost: Master Film Permit around $25 per day

Processing: Apply ahead; a certificate of insurance is required for most shoots

Commercial filming and commercial still photography on City of Seattle public property need a permit. Drone / airspace

Commercial drone work requires FAA Part 107; the city adds insurance and approval requirements

Local takeoff, landing, and park restrictions sit on top of FAA airspace rules. For Part 107 and drone law, see Drone Authority.

Street / public space

Yes: you can photograph what is visible from public space in the US

Private property sets its own rules regardless of city law.

Practical notes

  • Shooting in Seattle parks, including spots like Kerry Park, goes through the Parks Department, not the film office.
  • Pike Place Market and other managed sites have their own rules for commercial photography.
