Seattle
Seattle's $25-a-day Master Film Permit, when commercial still photography needs it, and the separate parks permit.
Guidance, not legal advice
Permit
Conditional
Issuer: Seattle Office of Film and Music
Cost: Master Film Permit around $25 per day
Processing: Apply ahead; a certificate of insurance is required for most shoots
Commercial filming and commercial still photography on City of Seattle public property need a permit. A certificate of insurance naming the City as additional insured is required for most shoots, with an exception for some enrolled students. Photography on Seattle Parks property is permitted separately through the Parks Department.
Drone / airspace
Commercial drone work requires FAA Part 107; the city adds insurance and approval requirements
Local takeoff, landing, and park restrictions sit on top of FAA airspace rules. For Part 107 and drone law, see Drone Authority.
Street / public space
Yes: you can photograph what is visible from public space in the US
Private property sets its own rules regardless of city law.
Practical notes
- Shooting in Seattle parks, including spots like Kerry Park, goes through the Parks Department, not the film office.
- Pike Place Market and other managed sites have their own rules for commercial photography.
